Goto, Isle of Love (1969)

On the remote island of Goto, governed by a brutal tyrant, a foolish thief rises through the ranks of society, starting as a criminal and gradually becoming a fly-catcher, a dog-keeper, and a boot polisher. However, he and his fellow islanders find themselves entangled in a web of temptation that could alter the destiny of the island permanently.
